This app would be perfect if you could create events private to your friends only. I don't want to create events with photos for the world to see, just my friends.

add a tab along with "explore", "my events" etc that allows users to share the website with others

I have noticed that there is a way of sharing the actual events with others through twitter etc but a tab on the homepage would be the ideal place to allow users to invite their friends to sign up to Clixtr through email/twitter/FB etc...you could name the tab ""Share with Friends" or you could have a line that shows on every page (similar to the feedback function) which encourages users to tell their friends and family about Clixtr and the events they are uploading...
